untitled poem, Oct. 2026
After an abbreviated workday of about 6 hrs.
I took an exhaustion siesta on my
bed/improvised blankets, shimmering red drunk,
marijuana echoes in
the dirty periphery.
My body's like an amorphous pretzel,
synapses, muscle, pulse...
calling to the Reggae cacophony
issuing thru these tree
branches,
across the parkinglot.
Firetruck drivers and EMS sirens
wail their obscene urgency
like desperate pirates in search of
opportunity.
I sacrificed morning-coffee
for
reprieve
from the tedium
of
sobriety?
